For Fun

  • Bemuse - A beatmania IIDX clone that runs in your browser!
  • Mahjong (bots) - Mahjong with bots!
  • Mahjong Soul - Online multiplayer mahjong, but with anime
  • TETR.IO - Online (and standalone) Tetris! Made for the people super serious about Tetris!
  • Path of Exile - One of my favorite games ever. It's free, and super deep! Also check out Path of Exile 2 for the next iteration of the game, even though both will continually be updated.
  • LOA2K - An archive of old vaporwave albums lost to time. This is the real deep shit, and can sometimes be problematic, so discretion is advised.
  • Poolsuite.FM - The GOAT. An online radio station for lounging and vibing.
  • Nightwave Plaza - Continuous LIVE vaporwave online radio. I've found some incredible gems here over the years. #aesthetic
  • Music For Programming - Online radio meant for focus and concentration. Ambient and techno and the like. Cool website too.
  • Aerochat Live - Apparently a cool little instant messaging app! I wanna dive into this sometime, so maybe I'll post my u/n when I get one. :)
  • Millennium - A Steam homebrew kinda app? Seems a bit limited in terms of numbers of themes and plugins so far, but the Old Steam theme looks really solid! And it apparently doesn't break TOS!
  • Discord Messenger - Apparently this is a custom Discord client designed to look more like old Windows 95 stuff. Neat, but definitely breaks TOS, so use with discretion!

Interesting/Cool Stuff

  • WindowSwap - Pseudo public livestreams of cameras peeking out someone else's window. Cool concept, and started during COVID I think.
  • GIFCities - I'm unsure if its Geocities or Neocities, but a search engine for GIFs on the indie web. Cool stuff here.
  • Screenpond.cool - A website that lets you draw squares where each square and drawing one creates a feedback loop of the squares inside each other. It's hard to explain, but super fun.
  • sadgrl.online - Aside from being where I got this website template, sadgrl.online has SO much information for new webmasters and thoughts on the indie web. There's also a great link page here with TONS of cool link databases to explore! So neat!
  • lolwut.info - A site from a 4chan OG it seems, who's amassed a ton of great links, info, essays, and early/mid-2000s content to explore. It's fun to just click around and see what's there.
  • The Weather Channel Classics - The oldest and largest collection of Weather Channel related media; photos, videos, music, you name it. I really love to flip through the pages, and once I even spent a nice little afternoon listening to allllll the old music! It was precious.
  • TaigaNet - WS4000 Simulator - Software that simulates the original WeatherStar 4000 software, famously utilized in the Local on the 8s program by The Weather Channel from the 70s to the 2000s. It's super cool, and a nice idea generator for personal projects.
  • WeatherScan - Yet another The Weather Channel simulator, this one based on the WeatherScan softare used by the Weather Channel starting in the 2000s. Even MORE nostalgia!

Tools, Info

  • Samplette - A cool tool that randomly gives you obscure YouTube music based on criteria you select. Perfect for finding samples to mangle.
  • Protobot - A cool creative tool for abstract thinking, it generates random prompts and products for you to "design". Some of them are really fun to think about!
  • EmojiPasta Generator - This takes blocks of texts and randomly inserts emojis that are contextually sensitive. Perfect for copypasta.
  • Cobalt.Tools - A YouTube/Twitter/Snapchat/IG/Soundcloud/etc downloader with no ads. Perfect for the pirate on the go!
  • Ripped.Guide - A helpful guide for media acquisition. May not be fully up to date. Arrrr!!
  • NewPipe - A tool to make YouTube less awful. No ads and such. Seems sick!
  • BadGraph12csGhost's Website - A website with some really cool resources for things like dephoning, data hoarding, game music creation, and even a little page with "The little things in life" that's a nice little breath of fresh air!
  • PixelMoonDust's Web Safety - In today's day and age, many people don't know how to be safe online. Here's a quick guide or primer from PMD's perspective.
  • Invidious.io - A tool for an alternative front-end for YouTube. Consider this if you want to abandon mainstream YT. Similar to NewPipe, but different.
  • Marginalia - An alternative search-engine the prioritizes non-commercial links (ie, no SEO?). You can find some kinda cool stuff this way! Surf's up!
